###

### **Only twice: when you first set it up, and the first time you play each card. Once a card has downloaded, it plays anywhere - car, campsite, Grandma’s - no internet needed.**

####

_**The exception**_ **\-** audio that needs to be streamed over Wi-Fi by nature, like radio stations and podcasts, always needs your player to be online.

####

## **When your player needs to be online**

* **Setting up**:  your player connects to Wi-Fi as part of setup.
* **The first play of any card:** the audio streams from our servers while your player downloads it in the background, so you’ll need a solid connection.
* **Radio stations and podcasts**: cards linked to these stream continuously, so they won’t play offline.
* **Playing to your player from the app**: both your phone and your player need to be online.

## **When your player does not need to be online**

* **Any card that’s finished downloading** plays straight from your player’s built-in storage - completely offline.

On your phone, it’s simpler still: if your phone has internet (Wi-Fi or mobile data), the app can play anything in your library, including radio, podcasts and cards that haven’t downloaded to the player yet.

## **How do I download audio before a trip?**

First, connect your player to Wi-Fi and plug it in to charge. You can check its connection in the Yoto App.

To start downloading audio:

* **On** **any** **Yoto Player or Yoto Mini:** Insert each Yoto Card and let it play for a few seconds.

* **On a Yoto Player 4th Gen or Yoto Mini 4th Gen:** You can also download titles that are already in your Yoto Library by adding them to a Green Button playlist. Some titles purchased as physical cards will only appear in your Library after you’ve inserted the card once. \[Learn how to use the Green Button.\]

Once you’ve added your Green Button titles or played each card for a few seconds, remove any card and leave the player switched on, plugged in and idle while the downloads complete. Leaving it overnight before a trip works a treat.

To check your downloads, open the Yoto App, go to **Settings**, select your player and tap **Audio Download Status**. You’ll see which titles have downloaded and which are still waiting.

####

## **Got more than one Yoto player?**

All the cards in your library download to each of your players:

* If your library fits within a player’s storage, **everything** downloads.

* If your library is bigger than a player’s storage, the least-played cards make room for the most popular ones, worked out per player. Nothing leaves your app library, and any card re-downloads when you play it online.
