# How to add radio and podcasts

#### **Make a card from radio stations and podcasts in the Yoto app.**

  

**Pick your podcast or radio station**

*   In the Yoto app, go to the Library tab.
*   Swipe the coloured tabs and pick either the Radio or Podcasts section.
*   Tap the podcast or radio station you want to link to a card to open the detail page.

**Link to a card**

*   Tap the three dot menu in the top right corner of the podcast or radio station detail page and select 'Link to a card'. You can also do this via the 'Link to a card' option in the small control panel, or from the large blue button at the bottom of the detail page, underneath the episode list.

*   Select Link to a Card.
*   You can then either decide to link via the phone directly, or by linking on your Yoto Player. Follow the on-screen instructions after you've made your choice.

**How to add radio stations that aren't in the Yoto app**

  

**Create a playlist or card from a radio station or podcast that isn't already in the Yoto app**  
  
**1\. Create a new Playlist**  
To set up a custom podcast, visit yotoplay.com/create and login using the same email address as you do for the app.  
Select Playlist and then Add Playlist.

2\. Add your audio stream to your Playlist**  
Give your Playlist a name and tap the 'Add Stream' button.  
Add the URL of the radio station to the'Add Stream' panel and click 'Save'

_Note: you can make a card using any radio station that has a live stream on the internet, and any single podcast episode if you have the direct stream URL for that piece of content._ _This option works better for radio stations, as it requires you to update the card each time there is a new episode._ 

  
**3\. Link your playlist to a card** 

*   Go back to the app and navigate to the Make Your Own section.
*   You will see your newly created playlist in the library. Tap on that title to open the detail page
*   Tap the three dot menu
*   Select Link to a Card. 
*   Insert a Make Your Own card into your player and confirm by tapping Link in the pop-up panel

You should see a red 'record' icon on the player display, followed by a green tick to indicate a successful link.   
Take your card out of the player and reinsert it to play your new playlist.  
  
  
  

**Create a playlist or card from a podcast that isn't in the Yoto app**  
  
**1\. Create a new Playlist**  
To set up a custom podcast, visit yotoplay.com/create and login using the same email address as you do for the app.  
Select _Podcasts_, at the top and then _Add Podcast_, to get started.  
  
**2\. Find and add the podcast stream**   
Tap the icon to the left to choose between dozens of available icons for your podcast, or upload your own.  
To the right, insert the podcast's RSS link. Then, tap 'Grab podcast details', and let the website work some magic.   
When the podcast stream has been retrieved, the  page will update with the podcast's name and episode list. Tap Save to add this podcast to your list.  
_Note: to find an RSS link for a podcast, simply search the podcast name and RSS feed in a search engine. This link is not the same as the podcast's website link, and it will often contain 'rss' in the URL. For example,_ _this link will not work:_ [https://www.buzzsprout.com/170026](https://www.buzzsprout.com/170026) _But this link to the same podcast will work:_ [https://feeds.buzzsprout.com/170026.rss](https://feeds.buzzsprout.com/170026.rss)  
  
**3\. Link your playlist to a card** 

*   Go back to the app and navigate to the Make Your Own section.
*   You will see your newly created playlist in the library. Tap on that title to open the detail page

*   Select Link to a Card.
