# Interactive Yoto Cards and 4th Generation Players - What You Need to Know

# **Summary**

Interactive Yoto cards aren't currently fully compatible with Yoto 4th Generation Players and Minis. They continue to work on all other Yoto players. This article explains why, which cards are affected, and what to do in the meantime.

  

## **Why is this happening?**

Our 4th Generation Players are built on new, more powerful hardware. That's good news for the future - it will allow for more functionality than ever before. But it also means that some existing features need to be rebuilt to work on the new platform. Interactive cards are one of them and we want to assure you that our teams are working hard on it.  

## **What does 'not compatible' mean for my card?**

It depends on the card. There are two types of impact:

Cards that will play, but differently: Some Interactive cards - including those with a shuffle feature - will still play on 4th Gen Yoto Player and Yoto Mini, but in sequence rather than shuffled. The 'pause' functionality may also not work as expected on Q&A format cards - questions and answers will play back-to-back without pausing for the listener to respond. This is most significant on cards with multiple-choice options.

Cards that won't play yet: Some fully interactive cards - including choose-your-own-adventure titles - require full Interactive functionality to work and aren't currently playable on 4th Gen Yoto Player or Yoto Mini.

*   If you have an older Yoto Player or Mini: your Interactive cards work exactly as expected.  
    
*   If you have a 4th Generation Player or Mini: Interactive cards won't work quite as expected just yet. We'd recommend checking a card's product page where you’ll see a compatibility note if it’s affected so you know before purchasing or attempting to use it with your player.
