How can I share audio with loved ones remotely?

Recording and making audio is great, but sharing is even better, especially when you can't be there in person

Tell me how this sharing works, then

Grandparents, aunties, uncles, cousins, siblings, everyone, can make recordings and share them so they can be linked to cards for the kids.

Amazing, but really, tell me how to do it...

So, you've got three options(!) to do this at the moment. All are a teeny bit faffy, but that's because we are working on a proper way to share audio, which should be released very soon - although this will come after the festive holidays..

NOTE: You are not allowed to share copyrighted content. If you create your own, totally original content, and you are happy to share with families, friends or the community, then please do.

Option 1 - Share your audio as an MP3

1. Record your audio using any voice recording app on your phone. Make sure you record in MP3 format.

2. Share that audio MP3 file by whatever means you like: Whatsapp, email, USB stick!

3. The person you share with can then turn that audio MP3 file into a playlist on Yoto, and link that to a physical card  using these instructions.

Use Option 1 if you want to share audio with more than one other family member (say, lots of grandchildren or nieces and nephews), but you'd rather not have to log in to the app using their details.

Option 2 - Join the Family Account

1. Download the Yoto app (links here)
2. Sign up to the app with your own email and password
3. Record stories directly into the app and turn these into Yoto playlists, using this step by step guide
4. In the app, go the Menu section (bottom right button), then tap Join a Family Account and follow the instructions to pair with Yoto Player and join the Family Account (you will need your family member to press some buttons on the Yoto Player while you do this, so they will need to be on the phone).
5. As a member of the Family Account, all your story playlists will be visible on the app of your family member, and they can link them to cards using the same instructions as in step 3 above.

Use Option 2 if you are only sharing audio with one other family member, and they are happy to have you join their Family Account.

Option 3 - Sign in as the person who owns the Yoto Player

1. Download the Yoto app (links here)
2. Log in using the email and password of the person who owns the Yoto Player (you'll clearly need to ask permission for this!)
3. Record stories directly into the app and turn these into Yoto playlists, using this step by step guide
4. These story playlists will then be visible in their app, and they can link them to cards using the same instructions as the link in step 3.

Use Option 3 if you want to share audio with multiple family members, all of whom don't mind you logging into their app!
