We release updates for the app regularly, bringing in new features, optimising performance and squishing bugs that come along from time to time. It's probably a good idea to switch on auto updates for the app, if you don't have this already.

Yoto app (Beta)

We make an app beta available for external testing before we promote the new release to the app stores. Whilst we test extensively and endeavour to ensure the app operates in beta without issues, there are times when glitches may arise. Participating in the app beta gives you access to new features ahead of time but with the caveat that there may be glitches that we haven't spotted. Yoto App v2.24 (7th April 2021)

Adding new Wi-Fi network details is now clearer to do, as it happens in the Manage Wi-Fi section of Player Settings. Previously you had to ‘Set up a Yoto Player’ when you wanted to get your Player online at a new location, or if you changed your Wi-Fi password or provider, which was confusing.
Card running times are now shown on the card detail screen (to add to the track/chapter lengths that were added in the previous release).
Haptic feedback (nice little vibrations that help indicate buttons have been pushed) has been added to the main play/stop buttons
We have added a direct link to the Make Your Own section of the app from the landing screen, for people using the app for the first time who may only be interested in creating their own content to share with family (grandparents, aunts, uncles for example)

We’ve made setup easier since you can now join the Yoto hotspot without leaving the Yoto app (previously you had to exit the app and go to and from your phone Wi-Fi settings)
Also, at the end of setup you will now go straight to My Library so you can start to enjoy your audio straight away

Yoto App v2.19 (16th December 2020)

Delete recordings: you can now delete audio recordings you make in the Yoto app. Simply swipe left on a recording and confirm by tapping the delete icon. Keeping things nice and tidy!
New layout for Make Your Own library: we’ve updated the design of the MYO section so you can see clearly those playlists you have made (which you can then edit) and those made by other members of your family account (which you are not able to edit).

Yoto App v2.18 (18th November 2020)

Record Audio: some additional improvements to this new feature in the app.
Better Free Content Access: we have opened up the app so you can more easily enjoy our selection of Podcasts, Radio and Sleep Sounds without having to log in to the app.
Plus: a bug fix for playing audio through other Bluetooth speakers (iPhone only), as well as some other general improvements to make things run smoothly.

Yoto App v2.17 (11th November 2020)

Audio Record: Now you can record your own audio directly in the app, to make playlists you can link to cards to play on Yoto Player! No need to mess around with a 3rd party voice memo app, it all now happens in the Yoto app.

Grandparents can make recordings which you can link to cards remotely for the kids. They just need to download the app, follow the “Set up a Yoto Player” steps (getting you to press the buttons and tell them the code over the phone if they can’t be there in person), and join your Family Account.

All playlists they make will now be visible in your app.

Yoto App v2.16 (23rd October 2020)

Sleep Sounds: an exciting new feature coming to Yoto, Sleep Sounds is an addition to the My Library section of the app, and contains a selection of sounds to help sooth the restless when it’s time for bed. From White Noise, to Thundery Rain, to the gentle sound of a Devon Hedgerow. You can play these tracks from the app directly on your phone, or remotely through Yoto Player, or you can link them to a Make Your Own card in the normal way.
Yoto Sleep Radio: within the Sleep Sounds area of the app, we have introduced a new radio station playing a selection of tracks for a calm and soothing bedtime. You can play this station from the app directly on your phone, or remotely through Yoto Player, or you can link it to a Make Your Own card in the normal way.
Other fixes and improvements: layout tweaks for phones of different sizes, and more guidance on setting up Yoto Player to your Wi-Fi network when you have a network name (SSID) longer than 31 characters.

Yoto App v2.15 (13th October 2020)

Setup: for Wi-Fi setup, we have added the ability to manually input your chosen network name, instead of just choosing from a list. Also for Wi-Fi setup, we have added a warning for when your network name is longer than 31 characters, which is unsupported by the Yoto Player at this time

Yoto App v2.11 (20th August 2020)

Improved My Library: without repeated refreshing of screen, and with a better view of your cards and other audio.
Improved Card Linking: this process now happens within the app, not on a web page, so should be a much smoother and enjoyable experience.
Improved Player Setup options: you can now start this process from the device picker if you have not yet set up a Yoto Player. We made this change to give better options for people new to the app to do the thing they are likely to need to do first.

Yoto App v2.10 (6th July 2020)

Track/Chapter Listings: see tracks and play from a specific track when your phone is selected as the play-on device (when Yoto Player is selected you can see tracks and play the content from the beginning). Navigate to tracks/chapters by tapping a card image or title in My Library or tapping the “Chapters” link on the maxi player.
New side bar navigation: on My Library for navigating between your library of content. This improves the navigation and paves the way for some exciting updates we have planned for the coming weeks.
How To Guides: available from updated Menu screen
Security update: see unverified members of your family account
Family Account organisation improved: Remove a family member from the family account (only when you are verified). Helpful if things got mixed up during setup.

We have improved navigation in the app, with everything now easily accessible in a single menu on the right hand side. You can now also control your Yoto Player remotely, i.e. you don't need your mobile phone connected to the same Wi-Fi network as the Player to access it in the app.
