Find out what the different player controls do!
The player controls behave differently depending on whether a card is inserted or not, and also sometimes if the orientation of the player changes (Yoto Player only).
With no card inserted
Left-hand orange button (Yoto Player and Yoto Mini)
- Turn clockwise - increases volume
- Turn anti-clockwise - decreases volume
- While something is playing, press for >1 second to rewind
Right-hand orange button (Yoto Player and Yoto Mini)
- Press the button once to play Yoto Daily (if you are online)
- Press it once again to play Yoto Radio (if you are online). To return to the clock display, press the button one last time
- While something is playing, press for >1 second to fast-forward
Right-hand orange button (Yoto Player only)
- Turn clockwise when in nightlight mode to increase the brightness of the nightlight (or turn on if previously turned down to zero)
- Turn anti-clockwise when in nightlight mode to decrease the brightness of the nightlight (down to zero)
Power button (bottom right-hand side of the Yoto Player (2nd generation) / right side of Yoto Player (3rd generation))
- Press and hold until nightlight flashes twice (approximately 3 seconds) - turns the player on
- Press and hold until white Yoto face animation appears (approximately 3 seconds) - turns the player off
- Press and hold for 10 seconds - performs a hard reset and restart of the player - use this if the player freezes or is behaving strangely. Don't worry, doing this won't delete Wi-Fi details or any content
Power button (right side of Yoto Mini)
- Press and hold for 3 seconds - turns the player on or off
- Press and hold for 10 seconds - performs a hard reset and restart of the player - use this if the player freezes or is behaving strangely. Don't worry, doing this won't delete Wi-Fi details or any content
Top Tips: you can customize what your right-hand button do in day and night mode from the Yoto app. Visit your player settings in the app.
With a card inserted
Left-hand orange button (Yoto Player and Yoto Mini)
- Press button - skips to the previous track or chapter
- Turn clockwise - increases the volume
- Turn anti-clockwise - decreases the volume
- While something is playing, press for >1 second to rewind
Right-hand orange button (Yoto Player)
- Press button - skips to the next track or chapter
- Turn clockwise - navigates forwards through chapters or tracks or, when Yoto Player is in nightlight mode (face down) the nightlight brightness increases
- Turn anti-clockwise - navigates backwards through chapters or tracks or, when Yoto Player is in nightlight mode (face down) the nightlight brightness decreases
- While something is playing, press for >1 second to fast-forward
Right-hand orange button (Yoto Mini)
- Press button - skips to the next track or chapter
- Turn clockwise - navigates forwards through chapters or tracks
- Turn anti-clockwise - navigates backwards through chapters or tracks
- While something is playing, press for >1 second to fast-forward
Fast-forward and rewind
The longer you hold either button, the quicker it rewinds or fast-forwards. The number of chevrons (>) you see on the pixel display increases the longer you hold the button, telling you how fast you’re going through the audio.
Hold for longer than 1 second >> = 20 seconds every 1 second
After 4 seconds >>> = 50 seconds every 1 second
After 7 seconds >>>> = 120 seconds every 1 second
Power button (bottom right-hand side of the Yoto Player (2nd generation) / right side of Yoto Player (3rd generation) / Yoto Mini)
- Short press - pause/resume track when content is playing (including when playing via the app)
- Long press - stop track when content is playing (including when playing via the app)
- Press and hold for 3 seconds - turns the player on or off
- Press and hold for 10 seconds - performs a hard reset and restart of the player - use this if the player freezes or is behaving strangely. Don't worry, doing this won't delete Wi-Fi details or any content
