Wi-Fi with Hyperoptic broadband or network name longer than 31 charactersUpdated a year ago

How to fix a known issue Wi-Fi name (SSID) that is more than 31 characters

There is a rare, known, issue that causes our players not to connect to Wi-Fi with some Hyperoptic broadband connections.

Your player works with Wi-Fi names (SSID) that are up to 31 characters in length, but some Hyperoptic routers have a default Wi-Fi name that is 32 characters.

Example: In the picture below, we see a Wi-Fi name that is too long for a Yoto Player or Yoto Mini ("A988 Hyperoptic 1Gb Fibre 2.4Ghz")

Note: Yoto Player uses 2.4GHz Wi-Fi and not 5GHz Wi-Fi

How to fix this

To fix this problem, you will need to rename your Wi-Fi name to anything shorter than 32 characters.

To do this, you will need to go into your router's settings. This can be slightly different depending on which router you have.

The full instructions can be found on Hyperoptic's website: https://www.hyperoptic.com/faq/posts/changing-the-wifi-name-ssid-and-password/

Once you have done this, you will be able to connect your player to your Wi-Fi by going through the Set-Up a Player flow in the Yoto app.
